Eyelash extensions have many types with different curl, length, and thickness. Here are some of the most popular curls:
- J Curl: is the most natural-looking curl. The lashes look quite straight and look like real lashes, because of their natural curvature. These are particularly appropriate for clients who have stick straight lashes pointing straight or upward.
- B Curl: Is a simple, basic curl that offers a lot of a lift while still being fairly natural. These lashes are best used for a client with natural lashes that are pointing upwards, it will open up their eyes and gift them that lift.
- C curl fits almost all eye types and is thus the most popular curl. If you have thin natural lashes but would love them to appear more open and fuller, go for the C-curl.
- CC curl have a curl greater than C and will give a super glamorous look.
- D curl is perfect idea when you want to achieve a dramatic look. Especially effective for clients with downward-angled lashes who want a show-stopping look.
- L curl looks just like the letter “L” with a flat base that goes into a sharp turn upward. Because of the flat base, you will be able to offer your client the ultimate eyelid lift.
- L+ curl is similar to the L curl with the same flat base except for coming up straight it comes up into a sharp upward curl. This curl type would be best used on someone who’s lashes are pointing downward or looking for more of a lift.
- M curl is a stronger curl than the L curl and it helps to create your client's eye a lot of vivid and defined.
2. Choosing the right curl for each eye shape
2.1) Almond Shaped Eyes
Almond eyes are the most common eye shape and this generally means that most types of lash extensions and curls can fit well. So the thing to focus on for this eye shape is actually the client’s own preferences and desires, and the quality of their existing natural lashes.
2.2) Round Shaped Eyes
Round eyes can appear more open and bright than other eye shapes, the goal for this eye shape is to gear it towards the almond shape, in order to soften the eye. Avoid the strongest curls, as these can also can offer the impression that your client is startled. Instead, take one thing looser, like a B curl or C curl, as these will complement the eye shape.
2.3) Downturned Shaped Eyes
With downturned eyes, the outer corners sit lower than the inner corners. As a result, your client might seem unhappy or sleepy-eyed. You can try transitioning to a strong curl at the outer third of the eye (from a C to a CC curl, for example). This will provide a little extra lift, similar to a lash lift.
2.4) Hooded Eyes
Hooded eyes are eyes that don’t have a crease. Depending on the dimensions of your eyelid, the lash line can disappear under the lid. Avoid strong curls like CC and D curls and use L, L+ or M curls will have a straight base combined with a beautiful curl throughout the middle and tip of the extension. The straight base will enable the extension to sit flush against the natural lash, which is able to give a stronger bond and increase your client’s comfort.
2.5) Deep Set Eyes
Clients with deep-set eyes have eyes set further back in the skull, strong curls in shorter lengths can appear unnatural. Instead, option for slightly looser curls can open the eyes up beautifully.
